Thank you

Nana & I just celebrated two years of geocaching. Yesterday, while I was sitting here thinking of writing a blog about the best caches we have found during our two years of caching, we received the honor of meeting two big names in geocaching. I was actually sitting in my man-cave when the doorbell rang. Who should be at the door but Hunster (26,388 finds) and htomc42 (10,428 finds). Not to take anything away from the local cachers we have met with a lot more finds than us, but having two well-known cachers show up at our door saying they just wanted to meet “Nana & Papa” really honored us. We talked for a few and shared some stories. The comments they gave us on our caches really made us feel proud. Hunster even went out of his way and let us discover a bunch of travel bugs he had with him in his vehicle. What an honor to meet both of them.

Then today when I was reading through both their logs – reading their comments made us feel even prouder. Then, to top that, there was obviously another North Carolina cacher, Grandpa Alex (17,765 finds), that left even nicer comments in his logs. We believe we had met Grandpa Alex before but reading his logs, with all the nice comments, gave us a nice warm feeling.

One thing both Nana & I agree on is during our last two years, we have met many a geocacher, both out on the trails and at meet-n-greets and most if not all of those we have met have gone out of their way to ensure all our questions were answered and if we needed any help at all – they made sure we got what we needed.

So, to all geocachers out there reading this – Thank you – thank you for all the help, thank you for all the answers, thank you for everything. Hopefully we have many more years caching if front of us (although I doubt we will ever have 23,000 plus finds) and hopefully we can provide as much help to others as all of you have provided us over the past two years.

As always – Stay Safe and Keep Caching
